Dr. (Jono) Sarfati (Ph.D. Chemistry from Victoria Univ., New Zealand) is recognized for his amazing knowledge of many fields of science, as well as logic, Scripture, and especially chess. He has co-authored papers in mainstream scientific journals including one on high-temperature superconductors published in Nature when he was only 22 years old. He is a former New Zealand Chess Champion, representing New Zealand in three Chess Olympiads (and drew - tied -with Boris Spassky, world champion 1969-1972).
For fun, Jono plays and defeats numerous chess opponents (up to 12) all at the same time, while he is blind-folded. An announcer calls out his opponents moves and Jono counters - one move at a time per board.
Teaching Honors and On-Level Biology for over a decade was one of the most rewarding "jobs" (privileges) I've experienced so far. Being hyperactive and easily bored has tempted me to "move on" to new things many times. From a zookeeper of elephants and large carnivores at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, to a veterinary surgical and emergency assistant, to a family counselor for two decades, later a church planter, and eventually a science teacher, all of it has been fun and fulfilling in unique ways. Sometimes I tease my students that it was all the same role - just different creatures. Yet teaching young men and women every day for 9 months of the year, has been such a wonderful privilege and often a scary responsibility.
Now (June 2015), I've decided to shift to teaching only middle school, 7th grade LIFE SCIENCE and 8th grade BIBLE. NCS has grown and expanded so that administration asked teachers to choose between teaching either MS or HS, but not both. It was a hard decision choosing to give up High School Honors Biology. Part of the difficulty was my prideful fear that I'd be thought of as "only" a middle school teacher. Shamefully years ago, I wrestled with the same sinful temptation when I had to choose between offers of teaching college/seminary vs. high school. I thought I'd grown beyond that sinful temptation, but nope, apparently not yet.
Anyway, I finally chose to focus on MS only, since the most urgent need seems to be ensuring a foundation of our Creator's truth early in the lives of students. Plus, I felt it would not be fair to make new incoming 7th graders at NCS have to wait another 2-3 more years to be in my wildlife rescue/rehab classroom with all of the fun, exotic animal assistants (our Creator's amazing creatures).
So, this page is a resource supplement dedicated to all of you past biology students who helped make our advanced study of God's created WORLD (biology) in light of His creative WORD (theology) into real EDUTAINMENT (both educational and entertaining)! As I continue to add new updated links to internet resources, hopefully this page will be helpful to some of you later in college and in your future careers.

The textbooks I used for my various science classes were excellent, SECULAR (Non-Christian) resources providing some of the finest overviews of "DIRECT-operational/observational" science available today. However, since they were SECULAR (Non-Christian) textbooks, their presentations of "INDIRECT-historical/origins" science presented an atheistic, macroevolutionary worldview. That can be good for Chistian students, since it allows the opportunity to exercise logikos, critical thinking while evaluating evidence for their worldview of life origins. To facilitate our critical thinking, we integrated research from world renowned scientists that are biblical-young-earth, Christian/Creationists, such as:
